Korean Drama - Boys Over Flowers

I was surfing the net and found out that KBS World on Starhub Channel 173 will be showing Korean drama " Boys Over Flower" based on a hit Japanese comic from tomorrow onwards (every Monday and Tuesday, 9pm). Based on the comic series of the same name by Yoko Kamio, it has been made into a live TV series in Japan, Taiwan (Meteor Garden), and now, Korea. A China adaptation is also coming up. I have already watched the Taiwanese and a few episodes of the Japanese adaptation and is quite sick of the same plot.

However, i'm abit tempted to catch some episodes (total 24) because of actress Goo Hye Sun who is the female lead of the drama. She is acting as Geum Jandi (Makino Tsukushi) a girl-next-door who gets herself tangled up in a relationship with a rich and stubborn boy, and her life takes a turn as she gets involved with him and his friends, or F4. I enjoyed watching her acting in Korean drama "Hearts of Nineteen" which was shown previously on Channel U and is curious about how she would portray her character Jandi.

For those who have not watched the series or the adaptations before, this is the ‘Iconic Love Story' for those who wish to stay young at heart forever! Jandi, the heroine, is the poor but bright girl who has a strong sense of justice and full of vitality. She transfers to an exclusive high school where only the rich go. In there, she encounters with the four rich and quirky boys and experiences love and friendship. The drama has been very popular in Korea and the ratings have been doing quite well since it started showing in Korea on 5 January 2009.
