2009 Chinese New Year in Beijing - Summer Palace, Steamboat Dinner and Wangfujing Street

This is another part of our Beijing tour that i enjoyed. We went to the Summer Palace also known as Yiheyuan in the morning and Kunming lake was really a beautiful sight. This imperial garden covers an area of 290 hectares. Longevity Hill and the Kunming Lake are the few beautiful sites in Summer Palace. Dinner was steamboat and the highlights was lamb meat and luckily pork and chicken were also provided for those who do not eat lamb meat like me :> After dinner our tour guide bought us to Wangfujing Dajie, a popular shopping district similiar to our Orchard Road, but abit smaller.

My favourite part was trying out the street food at the food street nearby Wangfujing Dajie. You can feast on exotic fare like starfish, candied strawberries etc... Hubby and i tried the dandan mian and fried dumpling. It was really nice drinking the hot soup from the noddle as it was really cold (3 degree celsius) but we did not really like the gyoza as it tastes funny. I still prefer my favourite fried dumpling from the Chinatown market.
