Crime Squad replaces "Dream High", airing on KBS on Mondays and Tuesdays. At the forefront of the team is the impulsive and hotheaded detective Park Se Hyuk (Song Il Gook) and the cold, commanding police chief, Jung Il Do (Lee Jong-Hyuk). Park Se Hyuk's passion for his work and rough personality results in a tendency to take action first before thinking later, in contrast with Jung Il Do's by-the-book style. However, his greatest weapon is an instinctive knowledge of a criminal's tricks and mental workings that he gained from his father, the legendary thief, and his own childhood in the streets. Together with the other members of a special team formed to catch Lupin, a notorious burglar, he juggles work with his own personal quest to find his father and confront his older brother, a crooked detective. Intern reporter, Min Joo, is also chasing after Lupin to interview him and is intertwined with Se Hyuk who is also chasing after Lupin to arrest him.

I'm interested in watching this drama because of actor Song Il Gook who is acting as the main character, detective Park Se Hyuk in the drama. Preparing for his detective character in the drama, Song Il-gook actually went and stayed on duty with the detectives, getting used to the sense of realism. Meanwhile, he also got lots of help talking with them about various things.

I enjoyed watching all his previous dramas especially the 2006 period drama "Jumong" and looks forward to seeing him in this modern detective drama. Also, actor Song Il-gook is showing a different side of his character in contrast to his usual heavy and charismatic one. Actress Song Ji-hyo (Goong) acts as a passionate intern reporter, Min Joo who has clashes with Song Il Gook's character while trying to gather crime news. She has also acted opposite Song Il Gook in "Jumong" and now they find themselves paired again in this new drama. It will be interesting to watch if they share better chemistry after working together in "Jumong".

Crime Squad, Sung Ji Ru - Kim Jun, Confused Couple
(Updated 24 March 2011)

Crime-Squad-KBS-Korean-Drama-2011_2

Unexpected characters from KBS’s “Crime Squad” are creating a buzz in the online community. The two characters are Nam Tae Sik (Sung Ji Roo) and Shin Dong Jin (Kim Jun), the male-male combination that work together while bickering all the time.

Sung Ji Roo, who approach cases with his vast experience from years spent in the squad, and Kim Jun, who uses his brain and computer skills to approach cases with digital technology and his intelligence vary vastly between their tactics on how to solve cases, but they two of them are turning out to be quite good at supporting each other. The two of them are showing great synchronization even while bickering.

However, even with all the bickering, Nam Tae Sik acknowledges Shin Dong Jin. He says “even dog poop has it’s uses; you are useful back in the office even if you are scared and somewhat useless at the scene.” The two of them may act like they hate each other but the respect and pride they have for each other is matched by none other.

Sung Ji Roo said “I was touched by the fact that Kim Jun researches and practices a lot since he loves acting so much. He makes me want to teach him everything I know since he works so hard.”

Kim Jun said “Sung Ji Roo has a lot to learn from not only acting but about life. He never holds back on giving advice even though we see each other every day. I want to learn everything he has to teach me and show everyone that I can be a top class actor.”

Crime Squad is a drama about police cases and shows the humanism within the job. With the interesting cases and the friendship between the officers are slowly taking the attention away from the competing dramas and airs every Monday/Tuesday at 9 55 PM.

Actress Seon Woo-seon is dropping out of KBS 2TV drama "Detectives in Trouble". According to the productions, she was meant to go on until the last 16th episode of the drama but her opinions with the staff about the character and importance don't get along well so she is dropping out with the 7th episode as her last. Seon Woo-seon had been outspoken and brave female Jin Mi-sook in the drama.

Overall producer Jeong Hye-ryong from the department of dramas in KBS explained, "It is true there had been a doubt about her character and her weight in the drama. We wanted her to continue with negotiation but it has been decided that she will drop out".

Seon Woo-seon will display last with an unfortunate accident in the 7th episode. The production will put in someone else in her position.

However, Seon Woo-seon's management wants to make it clear she isn't dropping out because of weight matters. They say, "She was only supposed to make a couple of friendly appearances. She doesn't have a problem with the weight in the drama. If she did, she wouldn't have went on board in the first place".

‘Detectives in Trouble’ Draws More Praise

The KBS2 Monday-Tuesday drama “Detectives in Trouble” is receiving rave reviews with its thrilling storyline.

The April 4 episode dealt with a case where a woman being educated at her company’s training center went missing. The investigation team was given only 24 hours to find the woman amid unclear criminal intent, inconsistent clues, and a fierce war of nerves with a suspect.

The team showed perfect teamwork under a new chief, Lim Gyeong-eun (Kim Sun-kyung).

Viewers expressed their excitement, saying, “It’s so intriguing that I lost track of time,” “I couldn’t guess who committed the crime until the end,” and “It’s so exciting and thrilling." A production staffer said, “Since the show is a crime drama, all the cast and crew are taking extra care to make the storyline convincing through their performances. We will keep up our efforts to produce a well-made drama.”

The show is expected to become more thrilling with its realistic story about crimes cases and detectives struggling to resolve them.

Song Ji Hyo Shows Enthusiastic Acting in ‘Detectives in Trouble’

Actress Song Ji Hyo, who is playing a reckless and dogged news reporter named Cho Min Joo in KBS's Monday and Tuesday drama “Detectives in Trouble,” participated in filming a very dangerous scene in which she had to hang down from a rooftop without utilizing a stunt actress, and her enthusiastic acting has drawn attention. In the 10th episode of the drama that aired on April 5, Cho Min Joo fell into a dangerous situation and had to hold on to the rail on a rooftop, and actress Song Ji Hyo actually presented impassioned acting by filming the scene without using a stunt actress while connecting herself to wire equipment.

A staff member of “Detectives in Trouble” said, “Song Ji Hyo decided to film the scene personally after having a discussion with staff members. Song Ji Hyo performed magnificent acting while filming the scene and presented a very nice scene that was well done enough to garner an ovation from staff members on the set after finishing filming the scene.” Many people near the set were reportedly watching her with pounding hearts, as an actress was participating in filming a very dangerous scene. Song Ji Hyo said, “At first, I was also very scared because I had to hang on at a high place, but I could finish the scene safely because I was equipped with a safety wire and many people helped me. I monitored my acting after filming the scene and I came to have the thought that it was very good that I personally acted in the scene. I just desire many viewers to enjoy the scene.”

The scene in which Song Ji Hyo acted enthusiastically was broadcast in the 10th episode that aired on April 5.
