The Legend of the Condor Heroes 2008 Theme Song (英雄寞)
Channel U has been showing the latest version of the popular Wuxia drama written by Jin Yong "Legend of the Condor Heroes" starring Hu Ge as Guo Jing 郭靖 and Ariel Lin as Huang Rong 黃蓉 every Saturday and Sunday 7.30pm. There have been several adaptations of the popular Wuxian drama and I remember watching the 1994 TVB Hong Kong version and enjoyed watching Julian Cheung acting as the innocent and kind Guo Jing and Athena Chu as the super smart and pretty Huang Rong. It is quite refreshing watching this 50 episodes drama with Hu Ge and Ariel Lin acting as the main leads and i can't help comparing their acting with Julian Cheung and Athena Chu.
However the drama is quite enjoyable and i also enjoy watching the special effects and the fighting scenes. I also like the actress Liu Shi Shi who acted as Mu Nianci and prefers her to the actress who acted in the 1994 version. Anthony Wong also looked so cool acting as Huang Yao Shi (Dong Xie) and i was also surprised that Guo Liang, who is a good host can also act so well as Wanyan Hong Lie in the drama.

Hubby has been hooked to the drama since he watched the first episode and ended up buying the DVD set from Poh Kim Video Store in Northpoint for a promotional price of only $28.70! He also finds Ariel Lin quite cute as Huang Rong and we both like the songs featured in the drama. The theme song is "Ying Xiong Mo"by Ronald Cheng and Hu Ge sung the ending theme song "Wu Yun Ran".
For those not familiar with the story, when their husbands were killed by the Song army, two pregnant women found safe haven in foreign lands. Li Ping gave birth to Guo Jing, a sturdy but blockheaded young man who roamed the Mongolian prairie with the family of Temujin. Bao Xi Ruo gave birth to Yang Kang (Yuan Hong), a smart and crafty young man who became the son of Wanyan Hong Lie, a successor of the Jin empire. When a pact between their martial arts masters brought them together and the truth behind their fathers' deaths was revealed, one found martial arts enlightenment and a cause greater than his own while the other descended into darkness and destroyed everything and everyone around him.

I like this story
Technology truly has become completely integrated to our existence, and I am fairly confident when I say that we have passed the point of no return in our relationship with technology.
I don't mean this in a bad way, of course! Societal concerns aside... I just hope that as memory becomes cheaper, the possibility of uploading our memories onto a digital medium becomes a true reality. It's one of the things I really wish I could encounter in my lifetime.
