Hong Kong Drama - Catch Me Now/原来爱上贼 (Spoiler Alert!!!)

Hubby and i have been hooked to this modern detective drama which replaces another interesting detective cum mystery drama "D.I.E." which ended last week on Cable TV Channel 55 (Monday - Friday, 9pm time slot). Veteran actor Damian Lau looks so cool in this new drama as a modern-day Robin Hood group leader and i have been looking forward to watching each episode everynight. "Catch Me Now" was shown in Hong Kong in April 2008 and those who missed the drama or have no cable TV at home can also catch the drama online at (http://www.mysoju.com/catch-me-now/).

Robs the rich and gives the poor, he's more than just a thief
Fights against injustice and crime, he's more than just a cop[1]

A sum of drug money triggers a battle of wits between Kong Yeung (Joe Ma) and Ko Chit (Damian Lau), a detective and a thief. Yeung gradually discovers the true identity of Chit is a mob chief who uses the restaurant business to cover his illegal activities. Despite all efforts, Yeung lacks sufficient evidence to support allegations against Chit. Nevertheless Yeung keeps a close eye on Chit and believes in the ultimate triumph of good over evil.

Yeung's devotion to his work sours his relationship with his wife Hong Mei-Lei (Fala Chen). Fortunately, Lei is given support and encouragement by her best friend Bao Yung-Yung (Idy Chan). Chit is deeply attracted to Yung's kind-hearted personality. He even risks exposing his secret identity to save her life. There is a choice between love and ideal...

According to the producer, they planned out three different endings but the cast argued that the ending in which Ko Chit died would be more memorable. Thus, the original ending has Ko Chit Shot by police in gun firing chaos. However, TV audience wanted a perfect ending, so TVB decided to create an alternate ending which became available online at TVB.com five minutes after the original airing date and time of the last episode in Hong Kong in 2008.
