I was so happy when David Silva scored the first goal for Spain!!! |
BIEN HECHO ESPAÑA!!! (WELL DONE SPAIN!!!) I'm so happy that Spain's football team made history by becoming the first side ever to
successfully defend their European title after a resounding 4-0 victory
over Italy in the Euro 2012 final in Kiev!!! This has been a superb Euro 2012 and i really enjoyed watching all the matches :)
It was a pity the Italians did not play well last night as everyone
around me were wondering if the Italians could finally cause an upset to the hot favorites, the Spanish team after their superb and memorable performance against Germany in the Semi Finals.
Spain have become the first to retain the European Championship title, and are the first to lift three major trophies in succession (Euro'08, World Cup'10, Euro'12). Nine of the squad (Iker Casillas, Sergio Ramos, Andrés Iniesta, Xavi Hernández, Cesc
Fàbregas, David Silva, Xabi Alonso and Fernando TorresIker Casillas,
Sergio Ramos, Andrés Iniesta, Xavi Hernández, Cesc Fàbregas, David
Silva, Xabi Alonso and Fernando Torres) who helped Spain claim a third successive major title have become the first players to enjoy two UEFA European Championship final victories.
My favorite player in the Spanish team 26-year-old defender Sergio Ramos was in the thick of the action from the off against the Azzurri last night and did not put a foot wrong as Spain proved far superior to the Italians last night. I'm really happy that his tremendous contribution was acknowledged as he topped the Castrol EDGE Index with a score of 9.69 after their historic win!
Sergio Ramos's boundless energy, athleticism and determination ensured he was as potent in Italy's penalty area as he was protective in his own, and a good deal of his rating is for his attacking endeavour. He gave the Azzurri nightmares from set pieces and had four efforts on goal, including two on-target shots from close range, to crown an imperious performance. |
Spain forward Fernando Torres also won the Golden Boot as top scorer at
the European Championship - getting three goals in just 189 minutes
played! He scored 1 of the goals during the final last night and also assisted in Spain's 4th goal.
I love the sweet and touching moment when the players bought their
kids who look so adorable wearing the Spanish team jerseys on the pitch
to join in the celebrations after the match. They were also busy taking pictures with their families and the pictures of Torres playing with his kids on the pitch and stealing a sweet kiss from his wife must have melted alot of females hearts ;) Check out the pictures below:
So sweet :) |
