The "Terracotta Warriors: The First Emperor and His Legacy" @ ACM

I learned about this exciting upcoming exhibition while reading The Straits Times today and will definitely be planning a trip there with hubby as we were disappointed that we did not have a chance to see the Terracotta Warriors during our previous trip to China and will not miss this great opportunity to see it in Singapore at the Asian Civilisation Museum :) I have included more information i found online about the exhibition below:

Here is your chance to get up close with China's famous terracotta warriors. For the first time in Southeast Asia, marvel at the First Emperor’s impressive burial complex and his mighty terracotta army, whose discovery is considered one of the biggest archaeological events of the twentieth century. Recapture the mystery of the warriors – how they were discovered, why they were created and what they represented.

The discovery of thousands of terracotta warriors, buried for over 2,000 years, is shedding new light on Emperor Qin Shihuang and his imperial legacy. Featuring over 100 objects from Shaanxi, China, this exhibition explores the rise of the Qin state and China’s first unification, the cultural achievements of early China, and the fundamental influence that the First Emperor and his dynasty had on Chinese civilisation.

Ten terracotta statues were shipped to Singapore for their first exhibition in South-east Asia, at the Asian Civilisation Museum. Together with about 100 artefacts from China's Qin and Han dynasties, the statues were shipped, over land and by air, from the Chinese city of Xi'an. The warriors, along with their trusty horses, had to be shipped over carefully from the Museum of the First Emperor's Terracotta Army. It took eight days just to get the artefacts from Xi'an to Shanghai since the shockproof vehicles transporting the items could not go faster than 80kmh.

The "Terracotta Warriors: The First Emperor and His Legacy" exhibition will run from June 24 to Oct 16. Featuring over 100 objects from Shaanxi, China, this exhibition explores the rise of the Qin state and China’s first unification, the cultural achievements of early China, and the fundamental influence that the First Emperor and his dynasty had on Chinese civilisation. The terracotta warriors, which are more than 2,000 years old, were originally constructed to protect the tomb of Emperor Qin Shi Huang.
