LadyJan: I can't believe that Ayase Haruka was actually in Singapore on Monday for an SK-II event!!! If only i could also catch a glimpse of her... such a pity she left for Japan on the same day due to her heavy schedule. Managed to find some info of her event online to share with her fellow fans :)
You’ve probably seen the television ads for SK-II’s Facial Treatment Essence with Japanese actress Haruka Ayase. The decidedly youthful and fun feel sets it apart from previous ads for the same product that featured ambassadors like Qiqi and Koyuki Kato.
This is a difference the new SK-II spokesperson readily admits to. “I had the impression SK-II was for more mature women and thought it’d be too rich for me. Japanese women also believe in not relying too much on skincare products,” Ms Ayase explained.
“Around three years ago, my makeup artist used the whitening mask on me after I suffered a terrible sunburn. I started using SK-II and felt my skin becoming springy and supple,” says the actress who spends around 20 minutes on her skincare routine.
Ms Ayase first became famous playing a leukemia patient in the 2004 TV drama Crying Out Love, In The Center of the World, a role for which she had to shave her head and lose a lot of weight. She also starred in the 2009 detective series Mr Brain with Japanese actor Takuya Kimura.
Ayase made her debut on 24 January 2011 in Singapore at the St. Regis in her role as the new celebrity brand ambassador for SK-II. This is also the first time a Japanese SK-II brand ambassador has visited the South-East Asian region.
During her appearance at the press conference in front of more than 100 journalists, Ayase shared her personal discovery of SK-II, and revealed that despite initial reservations that SK-II is meant for more mature skin, soon came to realise the importance of taking proper care of her skin as early as possible. She credits her luminescent skin to a diligent skincare compromising of SK-II products and just a general positive outlook on life.
At 25-years-old, Ms Ayase is the youngest ever SK-II ambassador and notes she started seeing changes to her skin recently.
“I started to see dark circles, fine wrinkles and visible pores. When I did close-up shots for TV, people would comment on them. I realised I needed richer skincare products unlike the lighter ones I had been using,” she explained.
“As we age, what we didn’t mind in the past starts to bother us now. We can’t avoid ageing, so should accept the changes but still keep skin in good condition.”
“Makeup base, sunblock, eyeliner or sometimes no makeup at all,” Ms Ayase says when asked what products she uses on her off-days. With her flawless skin and expressive eyes, the actress certainly doesn’t need very much to look good.
What are her other beauty secrets?
“Since I wear a lot of makeup for work, I always make sure I cleanse and moisturise daily. I think women should make an effort to take care of their skin and find happiness in seeing their skin looking better every day. I also like taking a hot bath to relax and sometimes put yuzu fruit in the bath to make it smell good.”
At twenty-five years old, Ayase is the youngest SK-II ambassador to date, and joins the likes of international celebrities like Cate Blanchett, Qiqi and Lee Sinje to inspire women around the world with her miracle journey to crystal clear skin with SK-II.
