Golden Compass

For those who have not watched The Golden Compass, should go watch. I really enjoyed the movie and Nicole Kidman looks so good on the show. The role of Mrs Coutler really suits her and i can't wait to read the rest of the 2 stories so that i can see how her character develops further. I always enjoy watching fantasy movies and also reading the novels. Luckily my hubby had bought the 3 in 1 book from Kinokuniya so that i can read the rest of the 2 novels :>

Rain Rain Go Away :<

It has been raining daily that it gets gloomy at times :< its not that i don't like rainy days as it is also very nice lazing around at home reading a book or enjoying a nice cup of coffee in my favourite Starbucks at Northpoint or Coffeebean at Sun Plaza. But i also miss the sun and swimming. It has been raining everyday and i can't even go swimming. I miss swimming at Safra Yishun and lazing around at the poolside reading. Hopefully it would be sunny tomorrow and i can go swimming. Better pray hard hehe...

Great Buy at "Cotton On Body" at Wisma

I went shopping at Orchard and discovered this new shop "Cotton On Body" at B1-52a at Wisma Atria. I was attracted to the shop by its cute pyjamas and nightie display and went in to take alook. I ended up buying 2 cute nighties (pictures below) as the price was much cheaper than Topshop. The shop was selling the nightie for $19.95 which was a real bargain. I also like that the nighties come with pockets as i can put my ipod inside and listen to music while cooking :>

Luckily i did not buy the nighties at Topshop as it costs about $60 plus. Would have kicked myself if i had bought it as i was attracted to the cute design also but it was too expensive. Friends who are still looking for Christmas gifts for your gal pals can consider doing your christmas shopping at "Cotton On Body", you should be able to find something nice for them ;>

Christmas Trees

My lovely Christmas tree :>

Went Suntec City and couldn't resist taking pictures of these beautifully decorated Christmas trees. My favourite is the first picture, whats yours :>

Cheap and Yummy Mini Logcakes

I went shopping at Ang Mo Kio Hub with my friend last Friday and bought several of these cute mini log cakes at the NTUC hypermart there. I go to Ang Mo Kio regularly to stock up on toiletries as it is cheaper at the Red Tomato Shop next to Jubilee and also to buy my favourite Tip Top curry puffs. My favourite since i was small.

Back to the mini log cakes, the original price was $2.99 and NTUC was selling it for only 99 cents that day. I don't know if the promotion is still on but i would definitely buy it again for my family if i decide to have a christmas party and the promotion is still on ;> I did not have high expectation that the cakes would be yummy as it was so cheap but it was quite nice and for 99 cents it is definitely a must buy, especially for chocolate lovers and kids as the snowman toy on top of the cake looks very adorable! :>

Why Why Love

I just bought the DVD set of this drama serial from TS Video Store at Causeway Point for a promotional price of $19. The original price was more than $30 and those who like the drama can consider buying it there :> it is definitely a great buy! Starhub channel 56 has been showing this drama every Sunday 7pm but i prefer to buy the drama so that i can watch it on my own timing.

Rainie Yang stars as Tong Jia Di, a girl who needs a life besides work, paying down family debt, and more work in this drama. Her best friend Jiang Xiao Nan sneaks in a “Love” coupon in Jia Di’s raffle box praying that the lucky guy who draws it will sweep Jia Di off her feet. As it so happens, Huo Yan (Kingone) , the compassionate manager Jia Di has a secret crush on, is the lucky guy. But, though the prince can exchange the coupon for Cinderella’s love, it doesn’t mean he will, especially when his devilish younger brother Huo Da (Mike He) is determined to exchange his “Master/Angel” coupon for her servitude. The main cast of the hit Taiwan drama serial "Devil Beside You" 惡魔在身邊 (2005) acted in this drama and it is a definite must watch for those who enjoyed watching "Devil Beside You".

Trip to Ikea Tampines

I went Ikea Tampines with my mum yesterday and got some great ideas to decorate my house for Christmas :> Am also sharing some of the ideas in the pictures below. I also had a yummy lunch (fish fillet with butter sauce and chicken wings) and bought my favourite meatballs and curry puffs back to share with hubby for dinner.

Although we went on a weekday, there was alot of people going too and the shuttle bus was very crowded. I would definitely go to the Alexandra branch next time as it is more accessible by taxi or bus and i don't have to rely on the shuttle bus (waited half an hour for the bus).

Pretty flowers from my hubby on our wedding anniversary :>

Hong Kong Drama: Fathers And Sons

I just rented this Hong Kong drama series (25 eps) after reading its great review in 8 Days magazine. I have not rented Hong Kong drama for sometime as i was busy watching my Japanese and Korean dramas. This is Hong Kong's NO. 1 rated dramas for the year and the broadcast period was from 6 August 2007 to 8 September 2007. I alway enjoy watching Bobby Au-Yeung's drama as he is a funnyman and great actor and it is always a joy watching his drama :> Jacky Wong the child actor who plays Bobby's son in the drama is also a joy to watch and he is really really cute in the show.

Bobby stars as a top-ranked market research manager Man Tin-Tsz, who is an expert at price comparison. Commonly nicknamed “the Honorable Min Jeong Ho”, his personal motto is “always be price-conscious”. Tsz who relishes his yuppie lifestyle has been longing for an early retirement but his plans are upset when his 8 years old son (Jacky Wong) whom he never knew existed, turns up at his door step. Tsz has no experience in taking care of children and is totally clueless about how to look after his son. Luckily his ally-cum-rival Kam Mei-Tsun a.k.a "Amy" (Yoyo Mung) is there to help and look out for him in every way. Wong Hei also stars in the drama and playing against type as an effeminate househusband. He focuses on his daughter to the neglect of his career and wife and is torn between his unfaithful wife (Halina Tam) and his daughter's hardworking tutor (Tavia Yeung).

This is a definitely must watch drama for Hong drama serial fans! The drama is available for rental at all Scorpio East/TVBI outlet. I rented the whole drama for $25 ($1 per ep).

Great Deals At Blue Max

I bought 2 Korean DVD sets yesterday at the Blue Max Video Store at Toa Payoh Central. I got "Witch Amusement" for only $15 and "Lovers In Prague" for only $10. What a bargain! Starhub VV channel had shown "Lovers in Prague" sometime ago but i did not watch all the episodes as i feel that some of the scenes were too draggy although i like the scenery of Prague. But my friend kept saying that the drama is really nice and since its so cheap, i decided to just buy it and would watch when i run out of dramas to watch.

"Witch Amusement" is showing on Channel U from 29 November 2007 at 10pm daily but i can't watch as my hubby wants to watch "Jumong" on Starhub VV channel. For those who are struck like me can consider buying the drama. For those Korea drama lovers, can go to Blue Max as i saw other nice drama (like Surgeon Bong Dal Hee, Mr Goodbye) selling for around $10-15 also :>

Susan Wiggs: The Winter Lodge

I just finished reading a very nice book that i borrowed from the library. I like that the writer tells more than 1 story at a time and the book has a very easy style of reading. It is very nice to just relax at home reading the whole day. Especially as it has been raining daily and i'm struck at home.

In her latest bustling romance, Susan Wiggs cooks up a rich stew of family plots past and present, spiced with plenty of generations-old Polish recipes, in this second installment of the Lakeshore Chronicles (after Summer at Willow Lake). I would definitely be going back to the library to borrow it :> Returning to Camp Kioga in Avalon, a small New York town where the wealthy Bellamy family has deep roots, Wiggs trains the spotlight on Avalon native Jenny Majesky, a food columnist and bakery owner who learned in the last Lakeshore tale that Phillip Bellamy is her birth father. Alone and grieving following the death of her beloved grandmother—Jenny's mom left her at age four—Jenny's life turns even worse when her house burns to the ground.

Does it mean she finally has the chance to follow her dreams. But what, really, does she want? After her mother ran off, her grandmother raised her. Then, just as Jenny was packing up to leave their tiny Catskills town of Avalon, and the family bakery so popular with locals and tourists alike, her grandmother had a stroke. Jenny has taken care of her widowed and disabled grandmother ever since. Now Rourke McKnight, the arrogant and handsome police chief with whom she shares a turbulent history, has complicated matters by taking her under his wing and into his home, and everyone in town seems to have an opinion about what she should do next. Wiggs cleverly structures this emotionally intense contemporary romance and continuation of her Lakeshore Chronicles around food-related anecdotes and recipes, and she adds a search for Jenny's long-absent mother and a troubled pregnant teen to the mix for even more poignancy.

Those interested can borrow the book from the library under WIG-(RO).
