10 Brilliant Beauty Resolutions For 2011

156775_467951799759_664319759_5853653_985759_n

1. Repeat your greatest hits.
You've got 608 pictures of yourself tagged on Facebook. It's time to do some serious clicking and hunt for the photos in which you look the best. If you love the pics where your hair is tousled, make an effort to rock that look more often.

2. Clean your cell phone.
Ever notice that the right side of your jaw has a few more bumps than you'd expect? That could be from all the bacteria on your cell phone. If you have an iPhone or a touch screen, it's best to pick up a cleaning kit from a store like Best Buy. For other phones, you can get away with using a tiny bit of rubbing alcohol on a tissue and gently wiping down your phone.

3. Don't buy moisturizer without SPF.
Even in the winter. And while we're on this topic: If you skip the protection because you want to look like you hail from Brazil, you'll look like you're 15 years older later. P.S.: Schedule that skin cancer screening, too.

4. Try a "beauty dare" once a month.
It's liberating and can help you revive your look, surprise your man, and unleash your inner beauty diva. Once every few weeks, be bold with some red lips or an elaborate hair piece or nail decals or…you get the point.

5. Upgrade your regimen.
Maybe you've been using the same moisturizer since you were 17. That's cute and all, but now that you're 27, you probably need a new formula. Not to mention some eye cream. Set aside some time to figure out what you should be doing at your age, and then put your plan into motion.

6. Pay for your hair sins.
We'd never tell you to part with your beloved hair straightener or stop the highlights, but you gotta pay penance for the damage you do to your tresses. Get regular trims, do weekly deep-conditioning treatments, and give your hair a break from the blow dryer whenever possible.

7. Go green.
Trying to be eco-friendly with every product you use can be overwhelming. So just make it a point to switch one thing in early 2011. Then, whenever it's time to make a new purchase, browse the eco-friendly beauty loot instead of automatically buying your regular products.

8. Put a cap on your bad habits.
We all have our vices. But that doesn't make them okay, especially if you want to look your best. Smoking leads to wrinkles, heavy drinking can dehydrate your skin…don't make us lecture you.

9. Stop picking.
Your cuticles. The mascara off your eyelashes. Your zits. Whatever it is you feel the itch to pick, keep your hands off it!

10. Get your beauty sleep.
Like you need to hear this? But still, it's worth repeating since restless nights can wreak havoc on your health and appearance. Try an eye mask if you have trouble shutting the world out.

Lovely Lunch @ Fresnness Burger (Serangoon Nex)

I had a pleasant dinning and shopping experience at the newly opened Serangoon Nex when i went there on Monday with my family. We purposely went during a weekday to avoid the crowd as the mall has been really popular with shoppers since it opened recently. There are alot of shopping and dinning choices and the mall is really huge!

We had lunch at Freshness Burger which is supposedly really popular in Japan and this is its first restaurant in Singapore. I love the decor of the restaurant which is really nice and cozy and the food is also delicious. Love the burger and  especially the yummy chicken nuggets and wide variety of drinks :> Freshness Burger is located at basement 2 where Cold Storage is and i will definitely be back again :>

Order food with an iPad

Saw this interesting news online at Her World that should be of interest for Ipad lovers :>

Could this be the solution to our service staff woes? Fish & Co has unveiled an interactive iPad ordering system so you don’t have to worry about speaking with a waiter.

Although other restaurants like Sakae Sushi have had electronic ordering options for a while now, Fish & Co is the first one to do it on that “must-have’ IT-accessory, the iPad.

Don’t worry if you’re still a bit analogue, the restaurant will still offer their printed menus for those who don’t enjoy fiddling with gadgets during mealtime.

Customers can use the custom iPad application to browse through the full menu, play games (right), check out awards the dishes have won as well as type in special requests to the kitchen (left).

While waiting for your order, you can play games or surf the net, which for most of us, means checking our Facebook and Twitter updates. Just remember you have to give the device back after your meal.

The iPad ordering system is only available at the Fish & Co. Glass House, #01-24 Park Mall. For more, go to http://www.fish-co.com/.

SBS "The President" ends run on top for 11th consecutive week

Picture 7

SBS' TV series "The President," starring Ko Hyun-jung, Kwon Sang-woo and Cha In-pyo, ended its run at No. 1 for the 11th consecutive week in terms of viewership ratings, according to the findings of two major research firms on Friday.

Total National Media Research (TNmS) on Friday revealed that SBS' TV series "The President," which shows the process of one woman’s rise to presidency, posted an average viewership rating of 24.8 percent, while AGB Nielsen Media Research reported that the show brought in an average of 26.2 percent.

The final episode of "The President" tells how Seo Hae-rim (played by Ko) who returns to her hometown after completing her term in the office, reunites with her love Ha Do-ya (played by Kwon) while Kang Tae-san (played by Cha) continues to pursue his dream in politics.

Completing its run in second place was MBC's family suspense "Home Sweet Home," starring Kim Hye-soo, Hwang Cine and Shin Sung-woo, scoring an average viewership rating of 9.3 percent on TNmS' survey and 9.8 percent on AGB's chart.

“Home Sweet Home” also ended with a happy ending as Jin-suh (played by Kim) and Sang-hyun (played by Shin) decide to stay married.

Medical drama "Sign" and romantic comedy series "My Princess" will both begin their run on the Wednesday and Thursday primetime slot on SBS and MBC, respectively, next week.

KBS' new series “PRESIDENT,” saw quite in drop in ratings this week, posting an average viewership rating of 4.6 percent and 4.9 percent on TNmS' and AGB's survey, respectively.

The show which tells the detailed story about lawmaker Jang Il-joon (played by Choi) presidential race in Korea, stars Choi Soo-jong, Ha Hee-ra and TRAX's Jay.

SBS TV Series “The President” - Finale Episode

Picture 2

Go back to the basics -- that was the phrase most frequently used in the final episode of SBS drama “The President.” Tae-san (Cha In-pyo) who was at the crossroads of his political life mends his ways after talking with President Seo Hae-rim (Ko Hyun-jung) and then the former-president Baek Sung-min (Lee Soon-jae). However, the one that most needed to be reminded of that phrase was probably the drama itself.

The reason that viewers responded enthusiastically to this series in the first place was that they saw the new possibility of a political drama actually combining well with fantasy. The one-person demonstration that Seo Hae-rim staged in the early part of the story -- which will no doubt be the most memorable scene of the year -- was where the very spirit of the drama was, a wonderful substitute to vent our frustration toward the incompetency of the government. Hae-rim had everything that the 2009 film “Good Morning President” had fantasized about: the good looks of young President played by Jang Dong-gun, the compassion of old president played by Lee Soon-jae and motherly leadership of female president played by Ko Doo-sim. And at her side was prosecutor Ha Do-ya (Kwon Sang-woo) whose zeal equaled that of the prosecutor from the 2008 film “Public Enemy” who cannot wait to strike back on corrupted politicians. The more realistic the corrupted politicians in the drama sounded, the larger the expectation grew for the catharsis that would be felt from their stand-offs.

However this wonderful encounter between fantasy and reality started to dwindle until it became a simplistic fight between good and evil, losing all the tension that any good political dramas should have. The moment “The President” betrayed its own line in the story “Politics is not about simple fight between good versus evil but trying to bloom 51 percent of goodness over 49 percent of evil," the show became useless in neither becoming a useful fantasy which fulfills the thirst felt from real politics or digging deeply into the truth of the society. What remained in the final episode instead was the typical Cinderella fantasy of one middle-aged woman who got her happy ending.

Even then, there were still some unforgettable moments. This is because what Hae-rim said in her goodbye speech as a president in the drama, that it was also our fault that present politics turned out to be as it is, our failure to make a timely response and our disinterest toward ‘principle and conviction’ that gave silent permission for unjust politics to reign, was painful reminder of the truth. That speech alone makes it worth to show a proper goodbye to the drama. So with some feelings of regret, goodbye, Ms. President.

I Love Kobo :)

Received a Kobo eGift card from my brother and his girlfriend for Christmas and i can't wait to start buying more ebooks to read on my Ipad!

Call Me Mrs Miracle - Debbie Macomber

I spent Christmas day reading Debbie Macomber's latest Christmas book "Call Me Mrs Miracle" which i had borrowed in advanced at the library so that i can read it on my most favorite day of the year. I love Debbie Macomber's books especially her yearly Christmas book which never fails to bring a smile to my face while i'm reading them :) Her stories are always so heartwarming and i love the wonderful endings.

CMMM

" This Christmas, Emily Merkle (call her Mrs. Miracle!) is working in the toy department at Finley’s, the last family-owned department store in New York City. And her boss is none other than…Jake Finley, the owner’s son.

For Jake, holiday memories of brightly wrapped gifts, decorated trees and family were destroyed in a Christmas Eve tragedy years before. Now Christmas means just one thing to him — and to his father. Profit. Because they need a Christmas miracle to keep the business afloat.

Holly Larson needs a miracle, too. She wants to give her eight-year-old nephew, Gabe, the holiday he deserves. Holly’s widowed brother is in the army and won’t be home for Christmas, but at least she can get Gabe that toy robot from Finley’s, the one gift he desperately wants. If she can figure out how to afford it…

Fortunately, it’s Mrs. Miracle to the rescue. Next to making children happy, she likes nothing better than helping others — and that includes doing a bit of matchmaking!

This Christmas will be different. For all of them."
